Congratulations to Panyawee et al.!
We warmly congratulate Panyawee et al. on their recent publication in the Journal of The Electrochemical Society:
“Different Impacts of Dissolved Transition Metals on the Graphite Anode in Lithium-Ion Batteries”

This research investigates how transition metals (Mn, Fe, Ni, Co) that dissolve from lithium-ion battery cathodes affect graphite anodes, a key factor in battery degradation. Through simulated and real-cell experiments, the study found that Mn and Fe deposition severely damages the anode by causing lithium loss, while Ni and Co have minimal impact. This work provides crucial insights into how dissolved metals contribute to capacity fade, offering a path to develop strategies for improving the longevity and sustainability of commercial lithium-ion batteries.
A special acknowledgment to the co-supervisors:
Prof. Chongyin Yang, Prof. Montree Sawangphruk, and Prof. Jeff R. Dahn—your guidance and mentorship have clearly played a key role in this success.
Wishing the team continued success and many more impactful publications ahead!
